Read the following in Marathi.
" Vede vha; vha thode vede. Nehmi shahane rahnyat kay shahanpan aahe? "
These are the lines from the 10th std marathi text book; first chapter PHOOL VEDYA MAI. Literally translating, it means, flower-mad lady. The day i read the chapter, i actually went mad and i incorporated the madness within me. Infact, this chapter should be taught from childhood itself.
So what am i talking about? Being a psycho? In the true sense, YES. I am advising you readers to be mad. Be mad about something; be it the instrument you play, listening to music, gadget crazy, anything, absolutely anything which you truly like and which you continue to like through out your life. Be crazy about anything which you can treasure through the life. Be a FOUNTAIN HEAD of that thing.
In the chapter i just mentioned, the lady mentioned was mad or crazy about flowers. Whenever someone used to utter that word, her eyes used to spark her madness about flowers. She knew everything about flowers; she knew which fertilizer was best suited for that particular plant. Even though she was on the death-bed, her mind was full of fragrance. Such was her love for flowers.
So why am i telling you this?
So that you identify that particular thing in your life. Your eyes must show that spark when someone just utters a word about that thing.
It gives me immense pleasure to say, " Vede vha; vha thode vede."
Madness within me.

I am feeling refreshed by the mere thought of SSC days...
ReplyDeleteIf someone has textbook then please post the pics of this lesson.
Very awesome chapter, I would say that all the chapters included in the curriculum were all very good.
Don Megh (Std. X) and Nidradevi chi aradhana and Phed (Std. IX) are my favourites. From Phed I still imagine, recall and remember the scene when the boy's mother returns Damle the shopkeeper a due by slapping him. The author (I remember) is G. K. Kulkarni.
ReplyDeletePhed was an awesome chapter...sadly when I try to remind my friends, no one seems to remember...thank you for validating.
DeletePhed and Fatehchand (8th standard) english translation of Munsi premji's writing..where in a british servent borrows bamboo from neigbor and takes revenge for his insult by an english boss.
I remember phed, the boy explains his mothers walk and the sound her "painjan" made. This post has taken me down the memory lane.
DeleteAlmost a decade and people are still discussing the topic....such was the pull of those stories;simple yet impactful...We really were lucky to have been part of that generation. Cheers to the good old days @pjs
